I have been so busy, I was able to get through the toughest parts of Module 3 and I am in Module 4. So far I am a little disappointed in the progress I have made, but that is because work has become more taxing and I have a big project that I am assigned. So far I have been able to use a lot of the knowledge that I have obtained from the Cybersecurity Course to help me with the logistical side of the project with working closely with our Security Operations Center (SOC Team) to get correspondence out about a major change to access that will be taking effect here soon. I can’t go into too many details because it is a project to patch a security flaw, but it is very exciting. With that, a sick child (from after I was sick), and some bad food poisoning I am hoping to be done with the 4th course this weekend.

The 3rd Module took me for a loop, it had a project that I almost had an existential breakdown figuring it out until I realized it was just a giant “show your work” assignment. Hopefully it turned out well! I have been so behind on posting some of my assignments onto the blog, I hope to get back to that here soon, but the blog is second to getting the actual work done.

I don’t think I will get everything completed within a 2 month time period because I am actually working through the assignments and figuring them out in my own way to I can learn this stuff. In the comments of a video I was watching about the Google Cybersecurity Course and comparing that to Security+ some people in the comments were saying they got through the training in a week! That is absolutely absurd unless they just clicked through the portfolio assignments. Those assignments have been teaching me a great deal of information when the rest of the course is pretty easy and straight forward.

Oh well back to the grind! I have a few hours to work on the course before I need to get my daughter to the park and get ready for D&D tonight with some friends. Work/life balance is important and if it costs me an extra month for the course, so be it. I want to be present for my family while I am working on this course to better our future.
